The Effect of Job Stress on Job Alienation in School Administrators

Abstract

This study was conducted to examine the effects of job stress experienced by school administrators on their alienation from work. The data collection tool consisting of personal information form, job stress scale and job alienation scale prepared for the purpose was applied to 208 administrators working in schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education in the Bağcılar district of Istanbul province in the 2022-2023 academic year, determined by convenience sampling method.
The data obtained were evaluated in computer environment by means of SPSS 22.0 statistical programme. Frequency, percentage, standard deviation, mean statistics, correlation and regression analyses, t-test and one-way anova tests were used in the analysis of the data.
As a result of the research, it was determined that school administrators experienced low level of job stress and alienation from work, there were positive correlations between the two variables, and the increase in the job stress of school administrators affected their alienation level and caused it to increase by 27.8%. In the study, it was also concluded that the levels of job stress and job alienation of school administrators did not differ according to their gender, but there were differences according to their age and education level, and the job stress and job alienation levels of the administrators with higher age and postgraduate education level were lower.
