The Effect of School Administrators' Personality Traits on Job Commitment

This study was conducted to examine the effects of school administrators' personality traits on their level of commitment to work. The data collection tool consisting of personal information form, Five Factor Personality Traits Inventory, and Work Commitment Scale prepared for the purpose was applied to 168 administrators working in schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education in the Batman province in the 2022-2023 academic year, determined by convenience sampling method. The data obtained were evaluated in computer environment by means of SPSS 22.0 statistical programme. Frequency, percentage, standard deviation, average statistics, correlation and regression analyses were used in the analysis of the data. As a result of the study, it was determined that school administrators had a high level of job commitment. It was concluded that school administrators have moderate level of emotional stability and high level of extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness and openness to experience personality traits. It was observed that there was no relationship between school administrators' emotional stability personality trait and work engagement, but there were significant relationships between other personality dimensions and work engagement. The relationships between extraversion and work engagement were found to be negative, while the relationships between agreeableness and conscientiousness were found to be positive.
