Abstract

This article argues that existing communication ethics frameworks need to be reconsidered in an era where artificial intelligence (AI) technologies have fundamentally transformed communication processes. The study re-evaluates the core principles of classical communication ethics—transparency, truthfulness, privacy, and responsibility—in the context of artificial intelligence. New threats to communication ethics posed by deepfake technologies, algorithmic biases, automated content generation, surveillance capitalism, and personal data processing are analyzed on the basis of Floridi's information ethics, Habermas's theory of communicative action, and Zuboff's concept of surveillance capitalism. By examining international regulatory frameworks, particularly the European Union Artificial Intelligence Act (AI Act, 2024) and the UNESCO Recommendation on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence (2021), five core normative principles for redefining communication ethics in the age of AI are proposed.
